Mascara a women's best friend! We can't leave the house without it, well at least I can't! Gorgeous looking lashes are just too damn flattering to us! It has been stated that women in Britain invest an average of £2,291 over our lifetimes in enhancing our lashes.
There’s been far too many times I’ve been promised fuller, longer, show stopping lashes and what do I end up with? Clumps!! Take a look at the following for tips of mascaras suitable for all lash types.

Mascara comes in all sort of formulas for lengthening, thickening, colouring etc. but there are also different types of mascara wands for curling, flexibility, definition and so on. Not sure what these all mean? Then look no further:
Smudgeproof mascaras: usually harder and thicker because they are designed to withstand rubbing and dry quicker so therefore most smudgeproof mascaras are also waterproof to withstand moisture.
Suggestion: Givenchy Phenomen Eyes Waterproof Mascara. (£22)
Lengthening mascaras: perfect for those of us with thin, short lashes! Some have synthetic fibers that add length to your eyelashes, others just create the illusion of longer lashes.
Volumising mascaras: help to add thickness lashes. These types are thicker and darker than other mascaras. Because of the thick consistency, volumising mascara is prone to flaking. Best way to avoid this is to apply 2-3 coats.
Suggestion: YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking Mascara (£23)
Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara (£17)
Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara (£17)
Lash Defining mascaras: the complete package combining darkness, thickeness, length. It adds length, creates volume and makes your lashes look darker. Ideally, this is the mascara for you if you require all 3 uses.
The type of mascara wand you choose to use is just as important as the formula of it as this is actually the part that determines and defines the shape of your lashes. Examples include:
Lash Comb brushes: designed to separate your lashes. They do not normally add volume but are idea for creating length so perfect for those of us lucky enough to have naturally thick eyelashes. Apply by combing lashes from root to tip.
Suggestion: Clinique High Definition Lashes (£16)
Curved brushes: curl and lift the lashes. The proper application for a curved brush is to sweep the brush from root to tip, starting at your inner lashes.
Suggestion: Urban Decay Supercurl Curling Mascara (£15)
Straight brushes: designed to cover each lash evenly in just one stroke. This brush type is best for beginners.
Suggestion: Max Factor False Lash Effect Gold Mascara (£10.99)
Rubber Bristle brushes: layer individual lashes evenly without clumping. A mixture of short, tightly spaced bristles add volume and long, loosely spaced bristles add length and separate.
Suggestion: Maybelline Volum'Express One by One. £5.99 (maybelline.co.uk)
"When choosing a mascara brush, remember shorter bristles are better for thickening and longer bristles are better for lengthening. If your lashes are thick & short, try a lengthening mascara. If your lashes are sparse, try a thickening mascara."
