TOP TIPS: Inject seventies glamour into your makeup routine

Many recent catwalk makeup looks have drawn upon the looks and trends of the hippie seventies, but it can be a rather tricky trend to pull off if you are not a confident make-up applier. Many a time I have tried and felt that it I looked just caked on with make-up rather than feeling dewy eyed and fresh looking.
So to give you a helping hand, check out our pick of the season's mew beauty must haves!!
Draw inspiration from the angelic-looking D&G runway girls and achieve their flawless skin this summer:

Tip1: Rid yourself of your heavy foundation.
imageThe Seventies was all about looking flawlessly perfect with porcelin-like skin. But how do you achieve this, without caking on the foundation to cover those imperfections and uneven skintones?
This year has been all about the rise of the B.B creams so take advantage of all they have to offer! there are so many now out there on the market that there is one to suit everyone. Take a read of  "What's all this about B.B Cream" to learn up about the key ones.
Start with a super rich moisturiser as a base and a primer such as Benefit Dr Feel Good £21.50  to keep your skin smooth and oil-free. This primer is also perfect cover any pores or uneven skin-tone (I swear by it!!!!) Next swap your foundation for a mixture of concealer and a B.B cream this summer for a more subtle yet full coverage. Daywear BB Creme by Estee Lauder £32

Tip2: Metallic Eyelids
The Seventies were known for golden bronze hues and metallic shades so try creamy eye shadows swept across your eyelids. For those who are nervous about using bright eyeshadows (like myself!) go for more bronzey colours or if you dare to bare- try the Seventies popular colour- blue. Maybe try Avon Extra Lasting Eyeshadow sticks £5.60  either in Blue Wave, Moonstone, Diamond or Classic Grey.

Tip3: Accentuate those cheekbones
Sweep highlighters such as Watts Up! by Benefit £24.50 across your cheek and brow bones and also to the temple and bridge of your nose to "cheat your way to glowing skin". Add over the top a baby pink blusher- try MAC Powder Blush in Pinch Me £17 or a more moose-finish Maybelline's Dream Touch Blush in Plum £6.49 which glides on for a light-as-air flushed look!

"Applying blush can sometimes be a real challenge. The right way to do it is to smile and apply the blush on the cheekbones and below in order to redefine the idea of a perfect, healthy skin. Try no to blend too much and go for warmer shades of brown, apricot or peach." makeup.beautyhill.

Tip4: Pale glossy lips
imageGone were the days of '50s red or pink lip colours. Instead, pale lips, were popular. It was all about highlighting the lips against a neutral backdrop for a glossy pout. Go for pale and baby pinks or peaches, and grab that clear gloss!! Try Revelon Matte Lipstick in Mauve it Over £7.49
OR
Tip5: Matte Lips
Another key Seventies lip look was matte lips to compliement the matte face. A cheat to this is add a moisturising lip balm such as MAC Lip Conditioner in Petting Pink £11  and then dabbing a pink blusher in a similar shade over your lips with a blush brush.
